Pre-application Advice

Thinking of submitting an application?

Contact a member of the Development Control Team to discuss your proposal prior to the formal submission of your application, for help and advice. This will lead to less abortive work and you will be able to get a clear idea as to the acceptability of your proposal prior to the submission of your application.

If you are unsure if you need planning permission you can contact a member of the Development Control Team for advice and to request a copy of the permitted development assessment form or the permitted development assessment form (means of enclosure).

If you would like to take advantage of this free service you can contact the Development Control Team in one of the following ways: -

  • By telephone on 01388 765555
  • By email planningcrook@durham.gov.uk
  • By visiting the Civic Centre in Crook
  • Or you can write to us at Durham County Council, Area Planning Office, Civic Centre, Crook, DL15 9ES.

When requesting pre application advice or enquiring about whether planning permission is required, you should provide us with as much information as possible, including sketched plans, etc.
